Your wedding ceremony is usually divided into several main components.
The Monitum, part of your Vows and the signing of certain documents are required by Australian Law and are prescriptive and compulsory.
Each individual wedding ceremony however, can be structured in a variety of ways and can be made to suit each couple. It usually consists of:
- The Giving away of the bride.
- The Asking, when the Civil Celebrant asks the couple of their intentions.
- The Wedding Vows, when the couple declare their love to each other and the witnesses present.
- Wedding Ring exchanges.
- Signing of Official documents by the Bride, Groom and Witnesses.
- Declaration and Presentation of the Married Couple.
It is your wedding ceremony and therefore it can be created to suit you personally. When we meet and you have booked me as your celebrant, I will provide you with an ideas booklet. It gives you some examples of marriage vows, askings, wedding ring exchanges and some readings that you may wish to consider for the ceremony. Most of the ceremony composition is your decision; vows, readings etc can be edited, rewritten, changed to suit your individual needs. Any other ideas you have can also be incorporated into the design of your wedding ceremony.
